We found that many people believe that San Jose has too much housing and not enough jobs. This simply isn’t the case. Lucas Scott from San Francisco Curved details the significant differentiating ratio of housing and jobs. The Bay Area truly has a housing crisis. Read more here.
Some of the facts that are found in the article are:
- For the entire Bay Area in 2016, there were 3.6 million employed people and 2.6 million units of housing.
- The top ten cities that have the fewest houses for their jobs have a total of 570,776 more jobs than housing units.
- San Jose and San Francisco alone account for 34% of the Bay Area’s jobs to housing imbalance.
We are not giving up on our teachers or the Missing Middle, we will continue to fight for affordable housing.
