We have known for quite some time that the San Francisco Bay Area has had a severe housing issue. Support Teacher Housing has been fighting to get affordable housing in San Jose. We are a group of community members that want to keep our friends and family in the area. Several members of the Missing Middle have been pushed out of their homes because of outrages housing costs. Recently we came across an article from Newsweek which Robert Galbraith wrote named Bay Area’s Middle Class is Being Squeezed Out In Droves: Report.
The article features Mark Uh, a data scientist for Trulia, a well-known real estate website. Mark Uh discovered San Jose’s middle class are wanting to move out with little to replace them in their place. With housing rates on the rise, San Jose is doing fine because many of the high-income residents are able to stay because obviously, they can afford to. San Jose isn’t the only one in a crisis. Both San Francisco and Oakland have had the same issue.
The San Francisco Bay Area is in trouble and we need to do something about it. Stand with us! Sign up for our newsletter! Come out to our events to spread the word to have affordable housing in the Bay Area.
